Applicable to leather-hard clay, biscuit fired at cone 04 (1000-1040).
Engobes are generally used for various decorative techniques such as sgraffito and majolica.
They have a matte firing. Apply Zinc-Free Clear glaze (SW004) to intensify the color or for use in tableware.
SW004 Zinc-Free Clear is recommended for a black finish.
SW001 Ceramic Clear will darken the color to a dark brown and affect the shine.
Engobes will affect glaze results when used as a base.

Can be used in oxidation or reduction firings. Results may vary.
Clay body selection, application thickness, firing process and temperature will greatly affect firing results. Always test your application on a clay body in your kiln environment.
