AC-306 Clay Mender Clay Mender is an "enhanced slip" intended for use in repairing and/or adding to unbaked clay or bisque. Unlike ordinary slip, the improved formula creates a stronger bond for repairs and additions. It can be used to join two pieces on bisque, but is primarily for use with unbaked clay. Application Suggestions Scoring the area where the attachment will be placed will strengthen the bond. Use a needle tool, toothpick, etc. to score the surface. Apply a light coat of AC-306 to both pieces. Apply a generous coat of AC-306 and immediately and firmly press the pieces together, holding them in place for 10-20 seconds until glued. Allow the area to dry. Once dry, the areas can be sanded and smoothed to prepare for decorating. Clay Mender will sometimes show a slightly different color than the clay used. Helpful Tips An additional application may be necessary if there is an area that is not completely filled with Clay Mender. For larger cracks/repair areas: Thicken the Clay Mender with a little clay to create a putty-like paste. For holes: Thicken the Clay Mender as above. Slowly fill the area and let it dry. Repeat until the area is filled and aligned with surrounding areas. A piece of cardboard can be used to support the back of the missing area while working. Repairing hairline cracks can be difficult. Enlarging the crack and then filling that area with Clay Mender helps to seal the gap.
